I'm inspired by the Opportunity to Create Opportunities for Young People

I always remember those periods as a young person when I had wished for someone older that would understand me and the way I think. For long periods I did not come accross anyone with whom I could connect. It gave me an insight into the struggles of young people who want to express themselves, the way they see things which so different from the way adults see things.

After a traumatic period of about 3 years a settled in Samaru Kataf, Zangon Kataf in 1992. Then I began to meet younger people who needed someone like I wished for. Well I played that role in the community for about 8 young people and then the thought to start an organisation was inspired in 2005 by a boy of 11 who came to my office and expressed his wish for an opportunity. Thus Prime Initiative was born.

We have not done much but we are slowly building a network of partners and sensitising communities on the need to "help youth to become job/career ready by age 25".

Prime Initiative has been in communication with Dan F. Bassil of Tutor Mentor Connections for two years and his guidance has been immensely helpful in grounding this campaign to mentor youth.

Prime Initiative is a member of CSACEFA (Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All) - Kaduna Network.

I am also a member of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter.
