Access ALL Areas: Bromley SouthAccess ALL Areas: Bromley South are campaigning to make Bromley South railway station accessible to everyone with a temporary or permanent mobility impairment by 2012.Campaign managed by: Elle Campaign location: United Kingdom, Kent Bromley South is the 49th busiest railway station in the country. Over 6 million passengers use the station each year. It is a major interchange for thousands of commuters. But if you have difficulty moving around or using stairs, if you have a pushchair or are carrying heavy shopping, you probably struggle to use the station. This is because you can only get onto the platforms by steep flights of steps. And there is no way a wheelchair user could get onto the platforms. The Government plans to make Bromley South accessible between 2012 and 2015. This isn’t soon enough! Even though London Victoria is less than 11 miles away, many Bromley residents are stranded, unable to reach the capital and the many employment opportunities and attractions it offers. This makes a mockery of Mayor Boris Johnson’s pledge to make London transport accessible to all in time for the Olympic and Paralympics Games in 2012. Bromley South is in Travelcard Zone 5, yet it has been completely forgotten about. And to add insult to injury, of the 92 stations given priority for accessibility improvements before 2012, only 6 have a higher annual footfall than Bromley South!
