Visit to Nanka Patriotic Union Makurdi branch

This journal entry is part of the Zeeler Campaign campaign

Prior to this visit, Zeeler Campaigners had met the previous days to discuss how to better raise awareness of the issues projected by Zeeler campaign. After much contributions and discussion, it became clear that finance was needed to really make good impact.
Visiting ndi Nanka (Nanka Patriotic Union Makurdi branch), we had two things in mind ; to simply let them know of what we are doing and perhaps have them wish us luck; and to request their financial support to enhance our visits to Abuja and also enable us carry out some awareness projects.
We got to the venue of the meeting at about 4:20 pm and were offered some seats and asked to wait until we were called. When we were later invited, Chief Ibejide introduced us – talking briefly on what we pursue, what we need, and also appealed to them to support us. In the process, our fliers and stickers were distributed to everyone present in the meeting.
The chairman stood up and really commended our efforts (especially in how far we had gone) as youths who are engaging in an issue as serious as this, for positive development of our communities. He also apologised to the house for not been able to come along with a research report which we gave to him the previous day.
After that, I spoke briefly on what the Campaign intends to achieve and earnestly appealed to the house for support. But surprisingly, the house didn’t react like it was an issue of money that was talked about. Subsequent comments were encouraging.
Among the people we met in the meeting are: executive and members of Nanka Patriotic Union Makurdi branch, and a visiting delegation of Ndi Orumba-North Local Government Makurdi branch.
The chairman of Ndi Orumba-North stood up, and after expressing delight, pledged a sum of N 5,000 to support our activities. More comments were made by some other people present.
Group photograph was taken with some NPU members and officials, and the chairman responded to our call for support – asking up to be patient and wait for their reply.
At that point, we thanked all of them and took our leave.
Among the Zeeler Campaigners who joined in the visit were: Alloy Ozue, Elochukwu Ezenekwe, Izunna Ezechukwu and Bridjet Utim.
Thanks for reading, and please do not hesitate to send in comments and suggestions, or even give a support.
