We will value and enjoy food more if we learn the story behind it and how to grow it and cook it for ourselves.

My two children were born in Australia and went to a small independent nursery school. They grew organic fruit and vegetables and helped to make lunch every day, which they shared with their friends at a big outdoor table. In 2005 the Family Wood returned to SW London - and the realisation that we had lived very privileged and sheltered lives! But I firmly held on to my belief that all children will value and enjoy food if they learn where it comes from, how to grow it and cook it for themselves. I then met environmental campaigner Zac Goldsmith, who understood the social, environmental and economic benefits of buying sustainable school food and in July 2007 School Food Matters was born.
