End Palestinian house demolitions. End Israel's Occupation of Palestine.
We are campaigning for the end of the Israeli policy of demolishing Palestinian homes and for the end of Israel’s occupation in the Palestinian territories.
Campaign location: England
ICAHD, the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, is a non-violent direct action group that works to resist the Israeli demolition of Palestinian homes. ICAHD rebuilds Palestinian homes and opposes all forms of the Occupation. On ICAHD projects, Palestinians Israelis and international supporters work side by side to:
• Resist demolitions and rebuild homes as a form of political resistance
• Inform the Israeli public about what the Israeli government is doing in the Occupied Territories
• Cooperate internationally with other peace and human rights groups
ICAHD UK – What we do
ICAHD UK was established in June 2004 in the Houses of Parliament so that British supporters could:
• Inform people in the UK about the situation on the ground in Palestine
• Brief UK and EU politicians
• Provide training and materials for campaigning
• Contribute new ideas on requirements for a just and sustainable peace
• Raise funds in the UK to support ICAHD’s work
About house demolitions
Since 1967, more than 24,000 Palestinian homes have been demolished by the Israeli authorities in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. Less than 8% had anything to do with security reasons but have been destroyed:
• To free up land on which to build illegal settlements
• To build settler by-pass roads
• To construct the separation wall
• For military installations
• As collective punishments
These demolitions are carried out in contravention of international law. The result of this is to:
• Confine the Palestinians to crowded, impoverished and disconnected enclaves
• Prevent a viable Palestinian state being created
• Ensure that Israel has permanent control of the Occupied Territories
More than 144,000 Palestinians have been made homeless since 1967
