The information we collect

When you visit Campaign Central you provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected by us and website use information collected by us as you interact with our website, such as the number of pages you visit and how long you visit the website for. This information is only ever viewed anonymously and helps us to review and improve the website.

When you register with Campaign Central, you provide us with your username and email address and you have the option to add your broad location. You do not need to give your real name, though you can use your real name as your username. This will be made public and should not be considered private or secure in any way.

In order to make good use of the website, it is important to add some details about yourself in the ‘quote me’ and ‘about me’ sections of your profile. This information is directed at helping you forge connections with others who may be able to support you in some way with your campaign. However, these details do not need to be revealing in a personal way.

We do not collect your real name, your address or your phone number. Your password is encrypted.

When you enter Campaign Central, we collect your browser type and IP address and this is shared with Google for the purposes of providing us with information about how and when the website is visited, where those visits come from, e.g. via search engines or links on other websites, and the broad geographical area of the site’s visitors. This information is gathered for all Campaign Central visitors and this is common for the vast majority of websites in use today. This information is only utilised in an aggregated, anonymous form.

In addition, we store certain information from your browser using “cookies.” A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user’s computer tied to information about the user. We use session ID cookies to confirm that users are logged in. These cookies terminate once the user closes the browser. By default, we use a persistent cookie that stores your log in ID (but not your password, which is encrypted) to make it easier for you to log in when you come back to Campaign Central. You can remove or block this cookie using the settings in your browser.

When you use Campaign Central, you may set up your profile, form connections, leave comments, engage in discussions, send messages, perform searches and queries, advertise events and share information through various channels. In order for you to do this, we need to collect this information so that we can provide you the service.

In most cases, we retain this so that, for instance, you can return to view prior messages you have sent or easily see your network.

You post content on the website at your own risk. No security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We cannot control the actions of other Campaign Central users with whom you may choose to share your pages and information. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that any content you post on the website will not be viewed by unauthorised persons.

We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the website. By using this website, you are confirming that you understand and acknowledge that, even after removal or amendment, copies of content you have at some point added to the website may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other users have copied or stored it.

Any improper collection or misuse of information provided on Campaign Central is a violation of the Campaign Central terms and conditions and should be reported through the many opportunities to report content and users.

If you choose to use our invitation service to tell a contact about our site, we will ask you for information needed to send the invitation, such as your friend’s email address. We will send your contact an email or instant message in your name inviting him or her to visit the site and may send up to two reminders. Campaign Central stores this information to send invitations and reminders, to register a connection if your invitation is accepted. Your friend may contact us through the form on our help page to request that we remove this information from our database.

At your request, Campaign Central may also collect your content from other sources, such as Facebook, Twitter and any other social networking websites you use.

Children Aged Under 13

Campaign Central does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for Campaign Central or send any information about yourself to us.

No one under the age of 13 may provide any personal information to or on Campaign Central. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under the age of 13, please contact us through the form on our privacy help page.

If you are the parent or guardian of a child under 13 years, you can register with the site and support your child to use the website. We do not suggest that you permit your child to use the site alone as it is aimed at adult users and as such there are none of the measures you might expect to see on a site aimed at young people.

Children Between the Ages of 13 and 18

We recommend that minors 13 years of age or older ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.

Use of Information Obtained by Campaign Central

We may occasionally use your email address to send you notifications regarding news related to Campaign Central, or to let you know that you have private messages or responses to your forum posts. We do this because we think you may find it valuable or because you have voluntarily signed up for notifications.

Generally, you may opt out of such emails, though Campaign Central reserves the right to send you notices about your account even if you opt out of all voluntary email notifications.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

Campaign Central may use profile information anonymously in aggregated form, in order to understand how users are benefiting from the website. This compiled data may be shared with third parties, such as our funders.

Campaign Central will never voluntarily share your private information, including your email address, with a third party.

Campaign Central may be required to disclose user information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. We do not reveal information until we have a good faith belief that an information request by law enforcement or private litigants meets applicable legal standards. Additionally, we may share account or other information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the Campaign Central service or using the Campaign Central name, or to prevent imminent bodily harm. This may include sharing information with companies, lawyers, agents or government agencies.

Campaign Central may contain links to other websites. We are of course not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Statement applies solely to information collected by Campaign Central.

Changing or Removing Information

Access and control over most personal information on Campaign Central is readily available through the Profile editing tools. Campaign Central users may modify or delete any of their Profile information at any time by logging into their account. Information will be updated immediately.

Individuals who wish to deactivate their Campaign Central account may do so on the My Account page. Removed information may persist in backup copies for a reasonable period of time but will not be generally available to members of Campaign Central.

Where you make use of the communication features of the service to share information with other individuals on Campaign Central, however, (e.g. sending a private message to another Campaign Central user) you generally cannot remove such communications.

Terms and Conditions, Notices and Revisions

Your use of Campaign Central, and any disputes arising from it, is subject to this Privacy Statement as well as our Terms and Conditions and all of its dispute resolution provisions including arbitration, limitation on damages and choice of law. We reserve the right to change our Privacy Statement and our Terms and Conditions at any time.

Non-material changes and clarifications will take effect immediately, and material changes will take effect within 30 days of their posting on this site. If we make changes, we will post them and will indicate at the top of this page the policy’s new effective date. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by email or through notice on our home page. We encourage you to refer to this policy on an ongoing basis so that you understand our current Privacy Statement.
